Explosives planted by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on the road exploded as Special Provincial Administration’s lorries and pickup trucks drove by in Iğdır on Saturday (July 28).
Workers who got off the vehicle following the explosion were fired at. Digger operator Nurettin Karadeniz lost his life.
According to news agencies, the explosion occurred when the digger loaded on the lorry and the pickup truck leading it came to Kadı Tepe region located 200 meters from Korhan Gendarmerie Station.
PKK members commenced fire on the workers who got off the pickup truck. The lorry driver ran away when he saw the explosion.
Two of the workers ran away and took shelter under the tents of the residents. Search and rescue operation was launched as Nurettin Karadeniz couldn’t be found.
After the operation was launched, body of Karadeniz was found near the pickup truck. Married with four children, Karadeniz’s body was taken to Iğdır State Hosptial morgue. (ÇT/TK)
