Following a viral tweet that showed a vehicle with the license plate “GAY” , the owner Ataşehir Municipality in Istanbul replied with the following: “Suppose that we are gay”. [“Velev ki ibneyiz” is a popular slogan amid Turkey’s LGBTI groups]
The aforementioned tweet was sent by ErkekTarafi (@ErosEmorotti), a popular twitter user.
“We are feeling the pride that we are serving our citizens without any discrimination,” Ataşehir mayor Battal İlgezdi wrote on twitter.
“Respect to human rights”
According to KaosGL, Ataşehir Municipality made the following statement:
“Not only that we don’t commit any discrimination in our district, we also support all struggles against discrimination countrywide.
