With the rising number of Covid-19 cases, infections among health workers have also increased in the southeastern Batman province, according to the Batman Medical Chamber and the Health Laborers Union (SES).
"Infection of healthcare workers with the epidemic virus negatively affects the response capacity of healthcare services to the outbreak, causing the disease to spread and the problem to grow," they said in a joint statement.
At least 560 health workers in the province have been diagnosed with Covid-19, according to the statement.
Outpatient clinics for Covid-19 receive 400 to 700 applications daily, the statement said, citing "health workers on the field." The local public administrators have not disclosed the figures about patients, it noted.
Also, citing the family health centers (FHC), the statement said there were about 3,000 Covid-19 patients who have been isolated at home.
Following the increase in the number of new cases after June 1, many doctors resigned from their posts and left the city, the organizations further stated.
Family healthcare centers and polyclinics, which are used in the pandemic response are inadequate for this and pose risks for health workers, it added. (SO/VK)
