Association of Free Journalists (ÖGC) has shown reaction against fire on three journalists shooting in a house in Nusaybin.
ÖGC in its statement has noted “Such assaults against journalists are planned and deliberate . They intend to intimidate and suppress journalists. Yet the journalists will now throw more heart and soul and track news with greater enthusiasm to dash such attacks regardless of current circumstances”.
What had happened?
Fire had been opened on JİNHA (Womens’ News Agency) correspondent Zehra Doğan and another journalist from French based news agency shooting in a house in Nusaybin district of Mardin province where the journalist got wounded in the hand on March 6 .
Doğan giving bianet information on the issue has noted that there had still been ones alive in the basement of the house. He has added that fire had been opened on them as they got on the roof for the camera shooting, they had hidden in a corner at the entrance of roof and could only leave the house half an hour later. Doğan has expressed that there had been many marks on the walls of the house due to the gun shootings.
Doğan has added that also his camera had been broken in the attack and he had to leave his equipment in the house. (EA/DG)
