Loup Bureau, a journalist from France who was arrested on charge of "aiding and abetting a terrorist organization" in Turkey's southeastern province of Şırnak on August 2, has now been released.

Loup Bureau was taken into custody on July 26 at Habur Border Gate near Silopi district of Şırnak in southeastern Turkey while crossing the border from Iraq to Turkey, was arrested on August 2 on the charge of "aiding and abetting a terrorist organization" and was sent to Şırnak Prison.
After his indictment was approved by the Şırnak 3dr Heavy Criminal Court the court decided that Bureau, who is also a journalism student, be released.
Önderoğlu: "It is relieving"
RSF Turkey Representative Erol Önderoğlu said that Bureau's release was relieving and noted:
"We will continue this fight to get the other journalists who are behind bars because of their journalistic activities, released.
Stating that Bureau's case was being discussed on presidential levels recently and concerned also Turkey-France relations, Önderoğlu reminded that also the French President Emmanuel Macron had called on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, demanded Bureau be immediately released and sent back to France.
