Joint attorney of the Hrant Dink murder trial Fethiye Çetin announced that she registered the complaints on behalf of Turkish-Armenian Agos newspaper and that she applied for the acquisition of the file. "We will study the file and follow up the developments", Çetin said and added that according announcement were to be made later on.
The indictment of the Poyrazköy case was accepted by the Istanbul 12th High Criminal Court on Wednesday this week (27 January). It includes the finding of explosives in the submarine at Koç Museum in Istanbul, alleged assassination plans targeting Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and a letter by an informant concerned with the "Cage Action Plan".
The "Cage Action Plan" was written on a CD found at the home of retired Naval Major Levent Bektaş, the main suspect of the indictment. The decoding of the encrypted file revealed plans regarding assassinations, provocative actions and threats aimed at Non-Muslims, furthermore a list of weapons to be used in those actions and a cell organization involving 41 people.
Görmüş: Cage Action Plan will be taken seriously by the ones in doubt
bianet talked to Taraf newspaper journalist Alper Görmüş about the indictment of the Poyrazköy case. In Görmüş' opinion, the inclusion of the Cage Action Plan into the indictment is a crucial development that will persuade the ones in doubt whether to take the plan serious or not.
Görmüş indicated, "The disclosure of the severe dimensions of the eagerness to create disorder in respect to minorities is the most striking part of the plan. Similar examples can be found in our history, but this way we saw that it can be utilized as a part of a vivid plan".
"The Balyoz coup plan comprised the bombing of mosques, which lead to a huge outcry. Whereas nobody raised his/her voice when the Cage Action Plan mentioned the bombings of churches. This revealed the racism within ourselves and it frightened me", Görmüş explained.
Görmüş drew attention to the discussions that followed the recent Constitutional Court's decision regarding soldiers not to be tried at civil court anymore. Nevertheless, the Istanbul 12th High Criminal Court accepted the Poyrazköy case indictment, which journalist Görmüş perceived as a "declaration of will":
"We observed intense discussions about the law and the constitutional articles. In my opinion, the Poyrazköy indictment will not come up in the framework of the military jurisdiction. I think it is rather meaningful and important to see such a declaration of will despite the court's discussion and despite the pressure". (BB/VK)
