An armed conflict has escalated following the attack carried out on Şırnak Security Directorate and Çakırsöğüt Gendarmerie Command Post on Saturday night ( May 14).
According to the report of Fırat News Agency, Civil Protection Units (YPS) and Civil Protection Units - Women (YPS-JIN) have claimed responsibility for the attack.
On March 14, curfew had been declared in the province and operations had been launched.
It has been reported that subsequent to the attack, armed conflicts have occurred in Gendarmerie Command Post and fire has broken out.
Also armed conflicts have arisen in Bahçelievler, Yeni, İsmetpaşa, Gazipaşa and Cumhuriyet neighbourhoods.
According to the report of Doğan News Agency, two YPS members have been killed and six members of security forces injured.
An air operation has been launched in the district.
According to the report of JINHA, 22 year-old Ali Sümbül has been killed in the clashes.
Due to artillery shooting, a large number of bullets and shell fragments dropped on the area in an industrial area in Şırnak where citizens with tents had been staying.
Sümbül’s body has been delivered to the morgue of Şırnak State Hospital. After completion of the procedures in the prosecution, he will be laid to rest in Avgamasiya (Toptepe) village. (AS/DG)
