The Constitutional Court has shared the statistics about individual applications and review of norms for the period of 2012-2021.
According to the statistics, 361,159 individual applications in total were made to the top court from September 23, 2012, when the right to make an individual application was introduced, to December 31, 2021.
The Constitutional Court finalized 302,429 of the applications, which accounted for 83.7 percent of all applications.
While last year saw 66,121 individual applications to the top court, 45,321 of these applications were finalized. The highest number of individual applications were submitted to the Constitutional Court in 2016 (80,756 applications), when Turkey witnessed the failed coup attempt.

86 percent found 'inadmissible'
According to the statistics of the Constitutional Court, the top court found 216,681 finalized applications "inadmissible" while it found at least one violation of rights in 25,857 applications. In 840 applications finalized by the top court, "no violation of rights" was found.
While 12,627 applications were given a decision of administrative rejection, 1,424 applications ended in other decisions.
Of the 25,857 applications with at least one violation of rights, 11,830 were given in 2021, which accounted for 45.8 percent.
When the distribution of the rulings by violations of rights and freedoms is considered, it is seen that "the right to a fair trial" is on the top of the list with 20,084 rulings, which accounted for 76.8 percent of all rulings of rights violations. It is followed by the "violation of the right to property" with 11.4 percent, by the "violation of the right to privacy and family life" with 2.6 percent and by the "violation of freedom of expression" with 2.5 percent.
131 actions for annulment
According to the norm review statistics of the Constitutional Court, 319 actions for annulment were taken from 2012 to 2021 and 1,137 appeals were lodged in this period. 1,416 applications were finalized.
While 134 actions for annulment and appeals were the case last year, this number was the highest in 2014 with 199 actions and appeals.
In 2021, 18 actions for annulment ended in rulings of annulment while 14 applications were dismissed. Of the appeals finalized in 2021, 10 ended in annulment, 49 in dismissal and 15 in merging. (HA/SD)
