Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Leader, Abdullah Öcalan’s attorneys have appealed to the European Court of the Human Rights (ECtHR) after their appeal as to Öcalan’s retiral to the Constitutional Court (AYM) was rejected.
Öcalan’s lawyer, Cengiz Yürekli in his statement to bianet said their retrial demand wasn’t assessed based on legal principles by the AYM but dismissed without prejudice telling it doesn’t try suits antecedent to 2012.
Yürekli expressed that “Öcalan has to be retried by being provided a right to pled in an independent and unbiased court”.
Yürekli also noted that Öcalan and his attorneys met lastly on July 27, 2011, and that their demands for meeting were not even replied or turned down with “unserious excuses”.
The ECtHR had declared its verdict on appeals lodged by Öcalan at different dates on March 18, 2014 and sentenced Turkey to pay fine of 25,000 euros. (AS/TK)
