Two hours after access to lesbian dating website lezce.com was banned over “obscenity”, access to LGBT dating website of 400,000 members, SheMaleTurk.com has been blocked for a short time.
Content Advisor and Press Relations Coordinator, Erman Paçalı speaking to bianet has expressed that they have called the Presidency of Telecommunication (TİB) and prosecutor who is the unit coordinator told them “It has happened by mistake. Sometimes our coworkers might block the website due to photos on the home page whilst viewing links. I will have it unblocked soon”.
Ban on the website was lifted this afternoon. “We are not struggling with homophobia only, but also with impudence”, as Paçalı evaluated.
“Neither law, nor content, nor mindset of TİB has changed”
Paçalı reminded that SheMaleTurk.com operates by membership system as lezce.com adding, “Law no. 5651 hasn’t changed, neither our content. However as far as we see mindset of TİB doesn’t change either. The state persists in fighting LGBT”.
What had happened?
Web administrator Erman Paçalı speaking to bianet had said that the site doesn’t have any content that could be a subject to blocking, they couldn’t find any addressee regarding the matter, and they will go to court to stop the execution. (ÇT/TK)
