The Ankara 4th Administrative Court has ruled that Assoc. Prof. Meltem Kayıran shall be reinstated in her position at the Department of Finance of Ankara University Faculty of Political Science.
In the case filed against Kayıran's dismissal, the court issued a stay of execution on June 30. The rector's office did not implement the order.
In re-appointments to doctoral faculty member positions, it should be investigated whether the candidate is successful in their duty rather than whether they fulfill the conditions sought in the first appointment, the court concluded, according to Mülkiye Haber.
Therefore, the dismissal of Kayıran did not comply with the law, it ruled.
Having received the title of associate professor but not appointed in 2017, Assoc. Dr. Kayıran was subjected to the criteria of sub-administrative staff and was asked to submit a file accordingly.
She was dismissed after refusing to fulfill the requirement because it was unlawful. The university dismissed the academic on April 14.
The Eğitim-Sen union, which Kayıran is a member of, filed a lawsuit against the academic's dismissal. (RT/VK)
