Geçen sene düzenlenen 68. Altın Küre ödül töreni sonucunda Facebook'un hikayesinin anlatıldığı Social Network, en iyi film, en iyi yönetmen ve en iyi senaryo ödüllerini kazanmıştı. En iyi erkek oyuncu ödülüne The King's Speech filmindeki rolüyle Colin Firth layık görülürken, en iyi kadın oyuncu ödülü Black Swan'ın başrol oyuncusu Natalie Portman' verilmişti.
