Various courts released 171 defendants who have been detained for being insisting to celebrate the May Day in Istanbul's Taksim Square.
The first row of 153 detainees were already released yesterday. While 17 of the remaining 18 were released late at night, and one of them was released after the trial he had for his detention.
On the other hand, 4 of the detaineeswere released by a court within judiciary control measures. They were ordered to subit signatures to a police station on a weekly basis.
Even though most detention periods were due yesterday, they have neen extended by court orders.
Progressive Lawyers Association (ÇHD) claimed that the procudure of making extensions of a past detention was unlawful. They said they will make a complaint on the procedure at Higher Board of Judges and Prosecutors by 12:30 pm local time this afternoon. (EKN/ENÜ/BM)
