Following the Constitutional Court ruling that their rights were violated, all jailed defendants of Turkey’s Sledgehammer case have been ordered to release by Anadolu 4th High Criminal Court.
The ruling was issued after Özlem Karaçam, the chief judge of the case, asked for the prosecutor opinion which favored a retrial of defendants and suspension of execution.
Around 3:30pm local time, the court ordered the release of all 230 defendants and the suspension of execution.
The ruling will apply to all convicted and jailed defendants as well.
