Continuing their hunger strikes in various cities in Europe, European Alewist Union’s Confederation (AABK) has protested against pressure and oppression of the Kurdish people on January 13, at 2 p.m. in front of Turkish Embassies and Consulates and left a black wreath.
In the notice prepared to be read out loud in all demonstrations, European Union (EU) Member States have been called on to object to the war of Justice and Development Party (AKP).
“[Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan, AKP and the state play with fire! Civilian people including children, elder people and women are being massacred by police forces of the state through imposing curfews in the regions resided by predominantly Kurdish people. The bodies of the massacred are not being delivered to their families and are being exposed on the streets. Even the mothers of the massacred children are not being allowed to bury their bodies which are being kept in freezers. This grudge and hatred is impossible to understand and this reckless and brutal war drag both Turkish and Kurdish people to an irreversible destruction. Obviously this dirty war will not remain limited to the regions resided mainly by the Kurdish people but going to expand to the whole country as seen on the recent developments. Erdoğan and the state insistently continue playing with fire for their own profit and prosperity. If this fire is not extinguished, it will not only burn Turkey but also Europe.
A moment of silence
Gathering in Denhaag province of the Netherlands in front of the Turkish Embassy, Alewis have kept a minute of silence commemorating the ones who have lost their lives in the attacks since the Suruç massacre. Afterwards an Alewi Dede has called on the mass and joint speeches have been held on behalf of Netherlands Alewist Foundations Women’s Commission, Youth Commission and Netherlands Coalition. Consequently Alewist Foundations Federation Director Nurettin Altundal has held his speech. Accompanied by the Dutch police, a group of 10 persons have left a black wreath in front of the Turkish Embassy.
In the same hours, also demonstrations were held in front of Turkish embassies in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Munich and Vienna to protest against Turkey’s dirty war against Kurdish people and left black wreaths. (FE/HK/DG)
