Justice and Development Party (AKP) Düzce Youth Branch Board member Mehmet Aybek, who posed with an MP5 machine gun, has been released.
Aybek had shared the message “Chief tell us to shoot we shoot, tell us to die we die” on his Facebook with the machine gun in his hand.
Aybek was released on probation by the court which he was referred to on charge of “Inciting people to animosity and hostility”.
Being taken to a police station yesterday (June 15), Aybek claimed that the gun was blank firing gun and he took that photo in a hunting store in the city a month ago.
This post of Aybek being shared following Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s announcement of the “Justice March” was perceived as a threat.
He was called for his resignation
AKP Düzce Provincial Chair Hikmet Keskin in his written statement had said that Aybek was called for his resignation and Aybek’s statements don’t represent the party’s approach.

The MP5 guns were subjected to a trial concerning an armed injury incident that took place in Ankara in the previous days. According to a report published by Hürriyet daily on May 8, 2017, the suspect had given a statement that “The gun was distributed in front of Ankara Police Station on July 15 coup attempt night”.
