Ağrı Co-Mayor Mukaddes Kubilay was arrested last night (December 27).
Kubilay was detained during an operation run by Anti-Terror and riot squad forces into Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) provincial and district executives in İzmir on December 22.
Detained from her house in İzmir’s Torbalı district, Kubilay’s house was searched by operation units.
According to a report by CNN Türk, Kubilay was brought to Ağrı province after being detained as part of an investigation carried out by Ağrı Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into PKK/KCK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party/Kurdistan Communities Union).
Kubilay was arrested on charge of “Aiding and abating a terror organization”.
Kubilay had earlier served as HDP İzmir Provincial Co-Chair.
As of December 28, 71 co-mayors from 46 DBP-governed municipalities are under arrest, trustees were appointed to 49 municipalities. (BK/TK)
