Suspended publishing last year, Ağani Murutsxi (New Star) newspaper started publishing again on Wednesday.
Based in Istanbul and completely in Laz language, the bimonthly (with its slogan “jur tuteri politikuri Lazuri kazeta” in Laz language) newspaper aims to cover monthly culture, sports and political news as well as articles and cartoons on topics like assimilation.
The latest issue offers rich content, including an interview with Prof. Dr. Mehmet Bekaroğlu from Laz Lanugage Institute.
Ağani Murutsxi newspaper also plans to become a periodical in the near future with the articles in Turkish, Megrel language as well as rotating content in Hemşince language, Georgian, Pontus Greek (Romeyika).
With a mission to make Laz language live as a language of reading and writing, as well as spread and bolster it to the extend that Laz people are unable to express the world through Laz language, the bi-monthly newspaper is contributed by a team of staff from various cities in Turkey and Germany.
Ağani Murutsxi marked the second newspaper fully in Laz language, following Mç'ita Murutsxi (Red Star) in Soviet Aphasia in November 1929.
The newspaper will cover articles on Mç'ita Murutsxi newspaper and Soviet Laz people leader İskenderi Tzitaşi (Ǯitaşi) on its next issue (November-December).
