More than 100 Easter demonstrations and marches were organized across Germany. The most crowded peace demonstrations took place in the cities of Hamburg, Frankfurt, Nürnberg and Kassel.
As reported by Deutsche Welle Türkçe, the Peace Marches Coordination Center has announced that in comparison with 2017, more people participated in the Easter marches this year, which was mostly caused by international crises such as the ones in Turkey and Syria.
The Spokesperson for the Coordination Center, Willi van Ooyen has commented on Germany's arms sales to Turkey and said, "War cannot be viewed as normality again and one cannot keep silent seeing the government of Germany behaving as if it had nothing to do with it."
On the Easter marches, which were attended by almost 4 thousand pacifists, people carried banners which read, "Afrin Demonstration: Stop Erdoğan's Conquest War and Germany's Weapon Fraternity with Turkey" and "Hands off Afrin! Turkey out of Syria!"
A doctor who participated in the demonstration in Frankfurt shared information regarding the work that he has been doing in Afrin on behalf of the Medico International aid organization.
During the Easter marches and demonstrations, the issue of climate change was also on the agenda. The demonstrators in Kaiserslautern protested the environmental pollution caused by the air bases in the region and demanded struggle against the causes of migration and exile. (PT/SD)
