The contract between Turkish Ground Services (TGS) affiliated with Turkish Airlines (THY) and Hamidiye, the drinking water brand of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), has been terminated.
As reported by Airporthaber.com website, making an announcement about the issue, the TGS has indicated that it has halted purchase of Hamidiye brand water, which is affiliated with the Metropolitan Municipality of İstanbul.
In its statement, the company has also announced that as of September 30, its contract with the Hamidiye Inc., which provided drinking water for the TGS personnel up to this day, has been terminated.
After this date, the company will continue purchasing drinking water from the Sırma Group Beverage and Industry Trade Incorporation.
On the planes of Turkish Airlines, the brand of glass water is Hamidiye and that of bottled water is Sırma. No statement has been made by the company regarding whether a similar decision has been taken for Turkish Airlines.
It was sold to a France-based company
Sırma signed a partnership agreement with the France-based international company Danone in 2013. With this agreement, 50.1-percent share of Sırma has passed to Danone, which has now become the majority shareholder. (HA/SD)
