Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk has criticized that defendant Casim Ozan Çeltik, who caused Berfin Özek to lose one eye and have burns on her face and chest in an acid attack, has been sentenced to 13 years, 6 months in prison for "willful injury".
Zümrüt Selçuk has shared the following message:
"We believe that a conviction on 'willful injury' in the lawsuit filed into the attack against Berfin Özek will trouble public conscience.
"We will appeal against the verdict, requesting that [the defendant] be penalized on charge of 'deliberate murder attempt'."
