The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) has blocked the access to Jin News, a woman-focused news outlet available in our languages.
This was the 10th order of access block against the website since it was founded in September 2017. The previous block order was given on February 23.
Jin News is currently accessible from Turkey at http://jinnews10.xyz/en after http://jinnews9.xyz/ was blocked.
A warning note in the blocked website says, "After technical analysis and legal consideration based on after the law nr. 5651, administrative measures have been taken on this website according to the decision nr. 490.05.01.2020-3580131 dates 13/08/2020 of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority."
About Jin NewsWith a team of woman editors and reporters, JinNews ("woman news" in Kurdish) exclusively focuses on women's issues. It is published in five languages: Turkish, Kurdish, Zaza language, English and Arabic. It was founded on September 25, 2017, with the slogan, "On the path to truth, with women's pen." Safiye Alağaş, the news director of the website, was awarded the International Prize for Journalism by the Italy-based Maria Grazia Cutuli Onlus Foundation. JinNews succeeds outlets that were shut down upon statutory decrees (KHK). The JİNHA, which had defined itself as the "first women's news agency in Turkey," was shut down on October 29, 2016, upon Statutory Decree no. 675. The "Gazete Şûjin," founded in December 2016, was shut down on August 25, 2017, upon Statutory Decree no. 693. |
