Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) have blocked access to the Dicle News Agency (DİHA) and Jin News Agency (JİNHA).
Following the order issued by the Statutory Decree to shut down the Telecommunication Communication Presidency (TİB), access blocks continue by the BTK.
BTK in its “administrative measure” decision dated August 23 blocked access to DİHA’s website dihanews.win and JİNHA’s jinnews.pw.
What had happened?
In the wake of the July 15 coup attempt, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on August 2 that “We want to form a strong intelligence mechanism against activities of this organization. For instance, we will shut down the TİB because this is one of the places hosting all sorts of scumbags”.
15 days after Erdoğan’s statement, TİB was shut down by the Statutory Decree on August 17 and all of its authorities have been passed to the BTK.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Kerem Altıparmak interviewing to bianet had said even if the TİB is shut down, BTK using the same authorities will carry on with the censorships. (EA/TK)
