Asst. Prof. Mustafa Sadık Akdağ from Ordu University Faculty of Dentistry has committed suicide.
According to a report by Haber61, Akdağ was kept in detention in Ordu Provincial Security Department for 24 hours. It has been reported that Akdağ was taken into custody as a part of an Fethullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Organization (FETÖ/PDY) investigation.
Akdağ committed suicide yesterday (February 28) in Trabzon.
According to Haber61, Akdağ has left the following note before committing suicide;
"Nobody is responsible of my death. I have been thrown mud at. I leave those who did this to God's punishment".
On February 25, Mehmet Fatih Traş, a research assistant from Çukurova University had also committed suicide upon being discharged from his position and difficulties he had experienced after his discharge.

4,811 academics from 112 universities have been discharged from their positions by the statutory decrees issued under Turkey's current State of Emergency. 16 of these academics have later been reappointed to their positions with further statutory decrees. (TP/ÇT/DG)
