Academic at Bilgi University Chris Stephenson delivered to Kumkapı Repatriation Center to wait for his deportation order has left for England yesterday evening, expressing that he actually did not want to leave.
The Prosecution had requested deportation of Stephenson and a deportation order was being expected from the Governorship. The academic was not allowed to wait for the deportation order home which was a longer process. His family who did not want Stephenson to wait for the procedure at the Repatriation Center has bought a ticket and Stephenson has been brought to the airport accompanied by police.
His lawyer İlkay Bahçetepe talking to bianet, has expressed that Stephenson did not want to leave Turkey but had to do so as he was obliged to wait in Kumkapı.
The order will be objected to as soon as the written version is issued by the Governorship.
He had been in Turkey for 25 years
Chris Stephenson while leaving the court has expressed that he had been Turkey for 25 years and his wife is a citizen of Turkey.
“I have been living in [Turkey] for 25 years. And been working in the same university for 17 years. My wife is a citizen of Turkey. [...] This is a terrible and wrong thing to do”. (BK/DG)
