The workshop organized by the International Human Rights Academy of the Aegean in which "Academic freedom" will be discussed will be held in Nesin Mathematics Village in Şirince village in İzmir province on September 22-24, 2017.
The workshop will take start with Assist. Prof. Dr. Barış Ünlü’s presentation titled “Academics for Peace and Feeling of Guilt” on September 23.
Open forums will be held in addition to presentations titled Academic Freedom Under the Threat of Commodification, Privatization and Authoritarian Populism, Academics’ Right to Make Research and Share Their Opinions as a Fundamental Human Right, Academic Freedoms, Law and Practice of Turkey in the workshop that will last three days.
Among the speakers and moderators are European Association of Lawyers for Democracy and Human Rights Chair Prof. Bill Bowring, Free University President Assist. Prof. Dr. Fikret Başkaya, discharged academics Prof. Dr. Nilgün Toker, Assist. Prof. Dr. Serdar Tekin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lülüfer Körükmez, lawyer Ziynet Özçelik, Italian National Research Council International Legal Studies Institute Research Director Dr. Fabio Marcelli, and Bayer Kılıçoğlu from the Dicle University International Department of International Law.
