State-run Anadolu News Agency (AA) which has followed all possible March 8 activities in the world and Turkey ranging from Ethiopia to Madagascar and from provinces of Şırnak to Muğla has not included Feminist Night Marches in İstanbul and Ankara attended by thousands of women.
(Madagascar)
Yesterday (March 8) thousands of women gathered in Taksim of İstanbul at 7 p.m. and marched to Tunnel square chanting “we don’t leave nights, streets or squares”. The 14th Feminist Night March in İstanbul has been the most the crowded march in the recent years. Women also gathered in front of the Human Rights Statute in Kızılay of Ankara at 8 p.m.
Yet the state-run AA news agency has overlooked the feminist night marches in İstanbul and Ankara while publishing photographs of various March 8 activities from different countries such as Madagascar, Ethiopia, Jordan, Australia (Melbourne), Mexico (Mexico City), Argentina, Brazil, France, Indonesia, Egypt, Somalia, Bangladesh and Iraq.
(Indonesia)
An authority of the agency we have talked to on telephone has reasoned that that they did not follow the activities in İstanbul as they did not have information on the issue; and that they did have pictures from activities in Ankara yet would not publish those as they had no relevant news text.
