The "Global Candlelight Vigil" action was called for by "Win Without War coalition", MoveOn.org and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. 6807 vigils were held in 140 countries. The action gathered millions of people who expressed their opposition to this war with their silence.

The first 7:00 pm on earth was in New Zealand, and then every hour from east to west, when it was 7pm in every city and town, people gathered for peace, against the war.
When it was 7:00 pm in Azores Island, the President of US George Bush , the Prime Minister of UK Tony Blair and the Prime Minister of Spain Jose Maria Aznar gathered for war.
At this dark moment, people of the world who joined the "Global Candlelit Vigil" came together, lit the light of reason, wished for a better world especially for children.
Turkali on Mis Sokak
One of the 6807 spots on earth, Mis sokak in Istanbul, gathered the people against the war, as well as the actress Deniz Turkali and her daughter Zeynep, a singer. Together they sang "The Girl from Hiroshima", the song travelled the world, mush have reached Azores, too.
Over a hundred people on Mis Sokak wished for peace from the bottom of their hearts, cried out their opposition to this war with their silence, and turned the action over to the people of Europe, for the next 7 pm. (NM/BB/NM)
