Eighth group of News Watch, which has been started for journalists to act in solidarity with their colleagues working under pressure in conflict zones, has arrived in Turkey’s southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
The group that arrived in the city on March 20 (Sunday) consisting of Aydın Bodur, Aysel Sağır, Ayşegül Doğan, Gökhan Tan, İsminaz Temel, Kumu Başer, Murat Sabuncu, Onur Yılmaz, Ragıp Duran, Şafak Timur and Yıldırım Türker will monitor Newroz for both their own institute and media outlets they work for.
Şafak Timur from Azadi TV, Kumru Başer and Aysel Sağır from Jinha, Murat Sabuncu from Waar TV, Gökhan Tan from Azadiya Welat newspaper, İsminaz Temel from Dicle News Agency, Ayşegül Doğan and Yıldırım Türker from Özgür Gün TV work on Newroz area.
64 journalists in total as of February 3 including the last group went to the region to support their colleagues. The journalists have made 170 reports, impression and video to make things going on visible in the region. After the last watch to be held on March 27, News Watch Coordination team will follow Jinha reporter, Beritan Canözer’s trial in Diyarbakır on March 29. (EA/TK)
