After it was reported in the press that five children died by falling into irrigation canals in three provinces of Turkey within two days, an 8-year-old child has been found dead in an irrigation pond in Kütahya.

Living in Muratlı village in Kütahya's Domaniç district, Burak Çakır (8) did not come home yesterday evening (April 27).
His relatives started to search for him in the vicinity. After some time, father Turan Çakır saw the shoes of his son on the surface of the irrigation pond in the vineyards near their house. He entered the pond which is some 1.5 meters deep and found the dead body of his son Burak Çakır there.
The paramedic teams who came to the scene of the incident also confirmed that the child had lost his life. The body of the child has been sent to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
Children of agricultural workers
Most recently, five children in Turkey's southern provinces of Osmaniye, Adana and Maraş drowned in irrigation canals in two days.
While three children, one in treatment at hospital, lost their lives in Osmaniye, the disabled daughter of a Syrian worker family lost her life in Adana and an 8-year-old child died in the province of Maraş.
The children of an agricultural worker family Saadet Karataş (10) and Narin (15) and Remziye (9) Büyükçay sisters have been laid to rest side by side in their hometown Siverek in southeastern province of Urfa.
