Attorney Efkan Bolaç speaking to bianet said they can’t access any document because of the confidentiality order, and that the students are trying to prove to be innocent without knowing what they are charged with.
“In penal trials, prosecution is obliged to prove his/her claims. Children are being pushed to prove to be innocent, they don’t know against what they will prove to be innocent”.
Attorneys cannot access the documents
İstanbul 7th Criminal Judicatory of Peace’s confidentiality order includes allegations such as members of organizations like DHKP/C, PKK try to recruit member and sympathizers, propagandizing for crime organizations, oppressing academics and students who don’t act together with them.
Attorney Efkan Bolaç talking to bianet had pointed out that the students taken into custody had in common that had earlier submitted a petition to the dean’s office and expressed that they did not want to take lectures from Assist. Prof. Dr. Esra Keskinkılıç who taught Ottoman language at Department of Turkish Language and Literature.
“With the confidentiality order, our access to documents such as petition, anonymous witness testimony, prosecution decision is being blocked”, said Bolaç. (BK/TK)
