Hundreds of people came together at Pride Parade in İzmir yesterday (June 10). “Today, we are going to walk up to fear”, they said.
The parade held with slogans “Where are you my love?”, “Don’t remain silent, shout out, gays exist”, “Trans murders are political”, “Raise your voice against hate” saw support from Bandosol with its music songs in front of the cortege.
Started on Kıbrıs Şehitleri Avune, 6th İzmir LGBTI+ Pride Parade ended with a statement read out for the press in front of Türkan Saylan Cultural Center.
The statement briefly read:
“Today, we are going to walk up to fear. We will march again by going through pain. We will march against violence, hate and discrimination, we will destroy them all. We will march towards a better world by passing under the rainbow.
“Those who are subjected to discrimination due to their sexual orientations and sexual identities, those who face difficulties at school, home, workplace, military service, camps and prisons, we didn’t forget you whether you are among us, we know you, we know each other by our wounds.
“We know well to march whatever obstacles come before us. Even if we fall, we stand up and march. We march by holding each other’s hands, we march without ever leaving each other alone.
“We march with pride!” (ÇT/TK)
