Ahmet Davutoğlu-led 64th Government has obtained vote of confidence with 315 affirmative votes against 194 nay votes, Davutoğlu said they will not exclude anybody and become a government of all.
The voting tried to be conducted via electronic system, however as the first-time deputies found the new system difficult, a large number of ballots were sent to chairpersonship council.

Longest vote of confidence
The General Assembly gathered under the chairpersonship of Parliament Speaker İsmail Kahraman, firstly discussed parliamentary question of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) as to killing of Diyarbakır Bar President Tahir Elçi, and then parliamentary question of the People’s Republican Party (CHP) as to “investigation of the impacts of practices of the government that abolishes freedom of expression and press”.
The vote of confidence took for 4.5 hours because of the debates on killing of Elçi, and arrest of Cumnuriyet daily Chief Editor Can Dündar and newspaper’s Ankara Representative Erdem Gül.
The parliamentary questions’ being brought to agenda was rejected.
“We are government of all”
Davutoğlu going up to the rostrum following the voting briefly said the following:
“Vote we received may be 49.5. Now we’re Prime Minister, government of all.
“We will never neglect any groups. We will listen to everyone, take firm steps forward”.
“We will respect opposition’s criticisms”
“Opposition is prerequisite for democracy. Representation of opposition is a right as much as the representation of governorship.
“I want to thank to all party leaders here. We’ve really made a nice beginning.
“As per Parliamentary Speaker’s invitation, I found opportunity twice to talk with [CHP Chair Kemal] Kılıçdaroğlu and [Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet] Bahçeli. I would have spoken with other co-chairs too if they were present”.
“Permanent budget instead of temporary budget”
“So we haven’t and won’t exclude anyone under the roof of the Assembly. We talked with them and said ‘Turkey doesn’t have any time, let us discuss permanent budget instead of temporary budget’.” (EKN/TK)
