The Ministry of Interior has announced that 635 social media accounts have been investigated and legal action has been taken against 290 users during last week.
“Legal action has been taken against 635 social media accounts and 290 people who were determined to propagandize for a terrorist organization, openly declare their affiliation with terrorist organization, incite people to enmity, hostility and hatred, insult state officials, attempt against state’s indivisible unity and people’s safety of life”.
11 people were arrested in Urfa
11 people, who were detained for “praising PKK/KCK, insulting state officials and propagandizing against ‘Operation Olive Branch’ launched by the Turkish Armed Forces into Syria’s region of Afrin”, were arrested today (March 12) in Urfa.
41 of 82 people who were detained in three different operations launched in the city were arrested by Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
In its statement dated February 26, the ministry declared that 845 people who criticized the Afrin operation on social media and attend critical demonstrations were detained. (AS/TK)
