Six people were arrested this morning (February 14) in Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari due to their social media posts about the offensive launched by the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and Free Syrian Army into Afrin, Syria.
13 people detained on charge of "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" the other day in the city. Criminal Judgeship of Peace ruled for six of them to be arrested, for the other seven to be released on probation.
The Ministry of Interior had announced that 474 people, who shared posts about the Operation Olive Branch, and 192 people who participated in demonstrations, were detained.
Besides, at least 34 people were arrested since January 20 when the offensive began.
This figure has become at least 45 with the latest arrests.
Adana-based operation
Anti-Terror teams raided 20 homes this morning in İstanbul, Van, Diyarbakır, Batman and Şırnak as part of the investigation launched by Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. A large number of people charged with calling for demonstration for the anniversary of Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) imprisoned leader Abdullah Öcalan being captured and brought to Turkey on February 15, 1999, were taken into custody.
Six people in Kayseri, 17 in Balıkesir and four in Antalya were detained yesterday. (AS/TK)
