Republican People’s Party (CHP) Erdoğan Özyalçın asked a parliamentary question to Minister of the Interior Sebahattin Öztürk:
“20 Afghani children in Erzincan province’s (northeastern Turkey) Sabancı Center for the Protection of Children departed without permission five days after they were admitted to the institution and got lost.
“What is the fate of these lost children?
Are children kidnapped?
“It was reflected in the press that the children were kidnapped by an illegal organization including bureaucrats and sold to organ mafias or pushed into prostitution.
“Have the aforementioned claims been researched/studied/investigated? And if so, what are the results?
Unaccompanied children
An unaccompanied minor is a child without the presence of a legal guardian. In immigration law unaccompanied minors, are generally defined as foreign nationals or stateless persons below the age of 18, who arrive on the territory of a state unaccompanied by a responsible adult, and for as long as they are not effectively taken into care of such a person. It includes minors who are left unaccompanied after they entered the territory of state.

Deputy Özyalçın stressed that there are 5,169 lost children since January 2015 according to the datum of Ministry of the Interior.

* “How many child abduction cases in Turkey include terrorism, organ trade and prostitution? What are the studies about the subject?
* “What kind of precautions are taken by the government to prevent neglects and child abuse?

* “How many bureaucrats got into the child abduction cases? What are their titles? How many of them went through the judicial process?
* “How many children were kidnapped by terrorist organizations in the recent year? What are the fates of them?” (YY/BD)
