Occupational Health and Safety Council announced that 334 mine workers lost their lives from beginning of 2014.
According to a report prepared by Occupational Health and Safety Council from written and visual information they gained through digital press, labour and occupation organizations, workers, and statement of workers’ families, at least 93 workers were killed on the job.
The number of workers died in last 20 months is 427.
The report stated that all of dead workers are male, including a child worker of 16-year-old, 19 workers on the age of retirement and 3 refugees, one of them is Chinese and the other two are Syrian.
412 of 427 mine workers died in last 20 months were working in private mines and other 15 were working in state-run mines.
The most deaths occurred in Soma. Whereas 309 of miners lost their lives in Soma, 29 workers died Zonguldak and 10 workers died in Şırnak. (ÇT/MUY/BM)
