Human Rights Association (İHD) İstanbul Branch Prison Commission has stated that demands of four prisoners, who have been on hunger strike at İzmir Menemen Type R Prison since April 20, must be met.
Prisoners’ demands are as follows:
* Prisoners should be operated when the operation time comes and they should receive medical treatment.
* Prison conditions should be improved.
* Their demands for transfer should be met.
* The sick prisoners who have been kept in İzmir Menemen Type R Hospital and on hunger strike are as follows:
Ergin Aktaş: One of his hands are cut off of elbow and the other of wrist. Besides, he has COPD. Even though there are reports stating that he cannot stay alone, he is kept in confinement cell after State of Emergency was declared.
Dicle Bozan: She doesn’t have one leg and there are wounds in her other leg and stomach. Besides, her intestines are outside, they need to be placed back inside by surgery but she is not operated.
Yusuf Bulut: Bulut is born in 1950. He has intestine cancer and living bedridden.
Ehmedi Xami: Xami is 18 years old. He is living wheelchair-bound.
The Human Rights Association (İHD) Prisons Commission had declared that there are 1, 154 sick prisoners 402 of whom are seriously ill. (AS/TK)
