An Ankara court arrested 4 retired Turkish Army generals for ousting the countries first Islamist-led government in 1997.
This morning, Ankara General Attorney Office resumed its investigation on the 28 February Ousting case, summoning retired military officers Metin Yaşar Yükselen and Cengiz Koşal.
According to various news websites, police has also seized retired generals Abdullah Cahit Sarsılmaz, Ayhan Cansevgisi, Temel Batmaz Dandin and Refik Zeytinci in Izmir province and escorted them to the courthouse in Ankara.
Yesterday morning, police summoned 5 retired Turkish Army officers, escorting them for their testimony to 28 February Coup Case held by an Ankara court.
While the court ordered the arrest of retired generals Orhan Yöney, Hayri Bülent Alpkaya, Köksal Karabay and Altaç Atılan, the remaining suspect, retired general Ersin Yılmaz was released pending a trial under police supervision.
Currently, 62 retired and active-duty generals were arrested for their involvement in the ousting of Turkey's first Islamist-led government. (EKN/BM)
