All workers in a textile company in Urfa, southeastern Turkey, have been reinstated after being fired because of becoming members of the DİSK Textile Workers Union.
The Uğur Tekstil company has accepted the workers' demands concerning union rights, a union representative said on Twitter yesterday (October 13).
"In the second meeting between Uğur Tekstil's boss and our union today, an agreement was reached to open the factory by the end of this month, reinstate all workers and start collective bargaining negotiations," said Mehmet Türkmen.
After the union was authorized to in the factory on September 10, the employer dismissed 300 workers asper Code-18 of the Social Security Institution (SGK), which indicates "termination of the work as a result of the fulfillment of the purpose of a particular job."
Uğur Tekstil is a subcontractor for several national and international textile companies, including Zara and Orsay. (HA/VK)
