3 high rank police officers have been dismissed within the investigation after the take down of Turkey’s flag in 2nd Air Force Command in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
The investigation was preceded by the death of Ramazan Baran and Baki Akdemir, two local residents who protested against the construction of new high security check-points in Lice district, Diyarbakır.
According to Hürriyet newspaper online, Interior Ministry dispatched two inspectors to examine the case. The dismissed police officers were as follows: Diyarbakır Anti Terrror Police Vice Comissionner Mustafa Börekçi, Riot Police seniors officers Mustafa Mumcu and Abdurrahman Bişgin. The ministry released a statement, saying that the investigation is underway.
While 4 were released after being initially detained in connection with flag take down probe, the other person was arrested. Police also launched an investigation to capture the top suspect - a 16 year old child who has been identified from his fingerprints. (EKN/BM)
