Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) İstanbul MP and Parliamentary Human Rights Commission Deputy Chair Sezgin Tanrıkulu has released his monthly report on rights violations in Turkey.
According to the September 2021 report of the MP, at least 209 violations of right to life were committed and 225 cases of torture were reported in a month. While at least 26 women were killed by men in September, 175 workers lost their lives in occupational homicides.
The report has also shown that at least two journalists or writers were convicted and four journalists were detained in a month.
In September, when at least 49 access blocks were imposed, 13 people were detained and four people were arrested for expressing their opinions. 12 people faced an investigation for the same reason.
According to the report, three municipality and party executives were arrested in September 2021. While police officers intervened in 16 meetings and demonstrations, at least 253 people were detained and two of them were arrested. Also, 12 events, shows and theater plays were prevented from being performed without interventions. (RT/SD)
