2020–2025: Men killed at least 1,923 women and injured 4,436
According to news compiled by bianet from local and national newspapers, news sites, and agencies, men killed at least 262 women in various provinces across Turkey during the 324-day period between Jan 1 and Nov 21, 2025.

According to data from media reports between Jan 1 and Nov 21, men killed 262 women, harassed 182 women, abused 198 children, subjected 668 women to violence, and raped at least 10 women. Men also forced at least 1,000 women into sex work. Furthermore, the deaths of 408 women were reported in the press as “suspicious,” and men killed at least 58 children.
Who killed the women?
At least 172 women were killed by men such as their husbands or boyfriends, 55 women were killed by male family members such as fathers or sons, five women were killed by their sons-in-law, eight by neighbors, two by employers, and two by male burglars. In addition, five women were killed by male friends, and one woman was killed by a non-commissioned officer. The identities of the men who killed at least 12 women were not reported in the media.
How did men kill the women?
Men shot 178 women, stabbed 58, and beat 14 to death. Eight women were strangled. In addition, two women were beaten to death and one was thrown from a balcony. The method used to kill one woman was not reported in the press.
Where did men kill the women?
Men killed 174 women in domestic settings and 86 women outside the home. The location of the killings of two women was not reported in the media.
What “reasons” did men give for killing the women?
Men killed 109 women because they wanted to break up or refused to reconcile. The motives for the killings of 143 women were not reported in the media. Five women were killed during robberies, and five were killed out of jealousy.
Legal process
There were at least 299 male perpetrators who killed women. Only 199 of them were arrested. At least 52 perpetrators committed suicide. Thirty-four were detained. Twelve fled. The legal status of one perpetrator was not reported in the press, while another was released under judicial control.
No news has been heard from Gülistan Doku, a student at Munzur University, since Jan 5, 2020.
