Two subcontracted laborers working at cafeteria of İzmir Katip Çelebi University, have been sacked by their subcontractor for having their photo taken in front of a “No” sticker.
Of the sacked workers, Zeynep Gürler shared the information that the subcontractor firm phone them and informed them that they were fired.
Interviewing to bianet, Gürler said they are getting prepared to take legal action.
“We learned about our discharge on the phone”
Zeynep Gürler worked at the cafeteria of İzmir Katip Çelebi University Faculty of Dentistry as an İŞKUR (Turkish Employment Agency) member, and was working as subcontracted laborer under a subcontractor firm for three months.
With her coworker, they shared a photo in which they did victory sign in front of a sticker reading “University Says No to Presidency. There is Young Generation”.
Gürler explained that it wasn’t them who stuck it, they shared the photon on February 28 and were fired on March 10:
“The subcontractorm firm officer phoned us and announced our discharge saying, ‘You made a sticker and shamelessly did victory sign’. ‘There is nothing I can do about it, this is the decision of the university presidency’, he added. I was working there for a year. I am getting prepared to take legal action”. (BK/TK)
