Turkey’s Disaster and State of Emergency Administration (AFAD) under Prime Minister’s Office announced that search teams discovered two more dead worker bodies in a mine located in Ermenek in the central province of Karaman.
While 21 days passed since a water flooding that trapped 18 workers inside, search teams are still working on to discovered 14 others.
“Since a water flooding trapped 18 workers inside a mine in Karaman’s Ermenek district, our ceaseless efforts yielded to the discovery of 2 more dead worker bodies were found in the 4th upper gallery of the mine. The search to discover other bodies is underway. Our efforts to find other 14 worker bodies will resume without a stop,” AFAD said in a statement.
On October 28, a water flooding in the mine left 18 workers trapped.
On November 7, 2 dead worker bodies were found 146 meters underground. 14 (presumably dead) workers are still waiting for a rescue. (BK/BM)
