Two of five people detained in İzmir have been arrested for allegedly “propagandizing for the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) and DHKP-C (Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front)”.
Provincial Gendarmerie Commandership teams raided seven addresses in districts of Torbalı, Bayındır, and Menemen, and detained five people. One of the five figures was released, two were released on probation and the other two were arrested.
Eight people were detained in Tekirdağ due to their social media posts about the offensive launched into Afrin.
117 people were detained during police operations carried out last night and this morning in Adana, Şırnak, Mersin, İzmir, Çanakkale, Kars, and Samsun provinces in response to social media posts on Turkey's Afrin offensive and charges of insulting the president.
The Ministry of the Interior had announced on February 12 the detention of 474 people who made social media posts about the Olive Branch offensive and 192 people who attended protests against the offensive. At least 45 people have been arrested since the beginning of the offensive on January 20. (AS/TK)
