19-Year Old Arrested Over Defaming President

 In Antalya, a 19-year old has been arrested over postings on Facebook due to “defaming the President”.

According to the report of the state-run Anadolu (Anatolian) Agency (AA), the 19-year old S.A. in Manavgat district of Antalya province has been taken into custody by District Security Directorate over postings concerning President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Facebook.

Referred to Manavgat Court, S.A. has been arrested following giving testimony to the prosecution.

The lawsuits and investigations of “defaming the President” have often been subject to criticism. Previously also theater player Haldun Açıksözlü had been taken into custody and 16-year old M.E.A., journalist Bülent Keneş and university student M.E had been arrested on the same charges. (EA/DG)
