18th Birthday of Berkin Elvan Killed During Gezi Resistance

Today is the 18th birthday of Berkin Elvan, who was hit by a gas cartridge fired by a police in İstanbul’s Okmeydanı district on June 16, 2013 and lost his life on March 11, 2014 at the age of 15 during Gezi Resistance.

A large number of people have celebrated Berkin Elvan’s birthday.

1,299 days passed over Berkin Elvan was hit

It has been 1,299 days since Berkin Elvan was hit.

The investigation as to Berkin Elvan’s killing concluded last month. Prosecutor İsa Dalgıç in his indictment demands that police officer F.D. firing the weapon be tried on charge of “Murder on eventual intent”.

Speaking to bianet, Elvan family’s attorney Oya Aslan had stated that the lawsuit was filed against only one police officer at the scene and rather than “willful murder”, it was filed on “murder on eventual intent”, which reduces the prison term to 20 years. (BK/TK)
