The Governorship of Şırnak has announced that 16 areas have been declared as "temporary special security zones" in the wake of a military operation conducted in Mount Cudi in the district of Silopi.
Accordingly, the following areas have been declared as "temporary special security zones" from November 10 at 6 a.m. to November 17 at 12 a.m:
Habis Tepe, Helanapir Tepe, Kürsi Tepe, Nuh Peygamber Ziyaret Tepe, Mevzilikaya Tepe, an unnamed hill with 1,625-meter altitude, Çelasor Sırtı, Fala Tepe, Kirikuru Tepe, Eğera Tepe, Konyaki Sırtı, Gavita Tepe, Cılız Tepe, Ahmetaziz Tepe and Çelesor Tepe in the district of Silopi (and rural sides of Mount Cudi and Kösreli Village) in the province of Şırnak.
It will be in effect for 8 days
Accordingly, referring to the Article 11 of the Law no. 5442 on Provincial Administration and Law no. 2565 on Prohibited Military Zones and Security Zones, the Governorship has declared the above 16 areas as "temporary special security zone" for eight days till November 17 at 12 a.m.
While the objectives of the security zones have been stated as "maintaining national security, public order and welfare, prevention of crimes and protection of others' rights and freedoms", civilians will not be allowed to enter these areas without permission.
About Silopi121,110 people live on area of 790 square kilometers in Silopi district of Şırnak province. There has been settlement in the area as of before common era. Habur Border Gate is in Silopi.
