Those sixten people who are accused of “forming a terrorist organization” and “drive people to uprising” in the Ergenekon case, among them retired general Veli Küçük, Susurluk convict Sami Hoştan and lawyer Kemal Kerinçsiz, have been transferred from Kandıra F Type Prison in Koacaeli to Silivri near İstanbul, where the first hearing of the case will be on October 20.
Hurşit Tolon is in Kandıra for now
Istanbul’s 13th High Criminal Court which will try the case had decided that all the suspects were to be kept in Silivri prison during the trial. Therefore, the transfers started today.
Former First Army Commander Retired general Hurşit Tolon, who was taken to the Kocaeli University Hospital for health complications and then brought back to the prison, was not sent to Silivri, since the indictment about him has not been completed yet.
The other retired general of the Ergenekon case, Şener Eruygur, was released for the health complications, too, and operated on at Kocaeli University Hospital. (EÖ/EÜ/TB)
